The Necropath
The Necropath is about the struggles of a family seeking refuge. The family meets a lot of dangers along the way. And more often than not, refugees like them lose most of their family members in their journey to find a new home.
The film has made me feel a lot of mixed emotions. I felt worried, scared, sad and nervous all throughout the film. At the start, I was really worried about the mother and her children as they looked somewhat disoriented or afraid. They can’t even walk fast and the father doesn’t seem like he can protect his family. I was also really worried with the baby all throughout watching the whole film (haha!). Then, I felt scared when a zombie woman started approaching them and murmuring that she wants the baby while they were walking. I was in the first five or ten minutes of the film but I felt really scared already. Then, I got sad when the mother died. Though I did not mind when the father died. So then, I felt nervous for the girl and the baby because they seemed trapped in a place where a maniac lurks and there are a lot of zombies. Thank God that the maniac hates sound. At least he has a weak spot even though he seemed too strong and too violent.
This film has good cinematography. The lighting was just right to make the viewers feel scared. The musical score was perfectly timed and appropriate with the scenes. There’s not much dialogue, but the actors and actresses did well enough to convey the emotions to the audience. It is easy to see that the actors have performed their best. The gore and violence in the movie was tolerable for adults, but it’s still scary, which, I think, is a good thing as this film is a horror. The makeup of the cast is also spectacular. The zombies looked scary, especially in the scenes where they were running towards the protagonist and towards the baby.
I was actually moved with the film because it depicted the struggles of refugees. It may not have been that realistic because of the inclusion of the zombies, but it still was able to portray how difficult it is when you are trying to find shelter- most certainly that you will encounter a lot of problems or attacks along the way and lose the ones you love the most.
I think the film has a good potential for a greater production. In this way, the director can explore more with the details about the maniac having desperate needs because of his addiction and how the zombies or the undead have become as such, like did it start as an epidemic or whatever. I would have also liked the film more if it started with more details why the family was running away or walking away from their home or why are they in search of the shelter.
Overall, this film is a good watch, especially at night to maximize the scare experience.
