Making a science-fiction movie is probably the hardest one to make in the movie industry. Not only will you need to hire the best crew that can blow the audiences’ mind with visual and sound effects, efficient actors with excellent convincing skills, but above all, you need that extraordinary and compelling story that ignites the interest and the imagination of the viewers, most especially sci-fi fanatics. I am quite critical when it comes to this genre, but I also admit that I am no expert when it comes to the history and the progression of the science fiction scene. I am more of a someone who enjoys a fine movie with excellent storyline and cinematography and accepts the challenge of the perplexities that makes the sci-fi genre extra unique that is why I keep a checklist whenever I review films.

By now you’re probably wondering what is with the introduction? Well, my dear readers, I am filled with extreme excitement to share with you an outstanding sci-fi movie I happened to have the awesome opportunity to review. The title of the film is “Flux” from the first-time filmmaker and certainly inventive Spencer Mead. I am very confident to say that this short film will have you captive for seventeen minutes. The story is pretty cool, exquisitely written with concrete structuring of every scene. What I like most about this movie is the innovation director Spencer Mead made with the thought of time-traveling. You see the story is about two time-travelers from the future. Then, unfortunately, something went wrong in their routine, and they landed several years early. But there was something significant about this year that somehow triggered an error with Colin, and made a simple routine into an unpleasant encounter. They were like playing a puzzling game of warp zone and time travel, but the catch is neither one of them knows that they are playing. This plot of the story exhibits the infusion of the pure genius of our director, Spencer Mead, who also wrote the story.

The great thing about this movie which made it stand out among many sci-fi films I have reviewed is how they put it all together. It appears simple, just imagine a parking lot at night, then two guys in futuristic combat look instantly appear from a ray of light, then boom, the creative prowess of sound and visual effects blew me away. I actually watched this film twice; first on a big screen with a surround system and the second time in my laptop with a headset, and guys it was awesome both ways. They are killing it with the visual and sound effects, they certainly scored extra points from me in this category. It was top of the line quality, great job. Also, I was impressed with the convincing and superb acting of Sean Ross and Trevor March. They flawlessly embodied their characters and the time-traveling dilemma.

I am trying my best not to spoil too much about the film because you deserve to see how marvelous it is and it deserves the honor to unveil itself on its opening day but I guarantee you Flux is one of the best sci-fi films I have seen this season, it checks all the mark for an outstanding film, it just made the competition tighter this season. Cheers!
