Ce matin qui dura six ans
The World War II has done so much chaos to the world and humanity, an estimate of 70 to 85 millions of life perished, countless casualties, and millions more of families left broken, without a father, children separated from their parents, mourning mothers, and sons and brothers fighting for a cause even at the cost of their own life. One unfortunate fact about the war was these brave soldiers are typecast with the regiment they are fighting with, the country they represent, and upon the direction of the bullets fired in the battlefield. A sad reality, however underneath their combat armor and all their battle weapons, they are flesh and blood, humans, just like anyone on the war zone, fighting to survive a war instigated by tyranny to bring more oppression to those who are already oppressed in order to prove more power. I have read hundreds of stories about the war and seen a hundred more films about it, and every story either amazes me or breaks my heart. Today is one special day because I was able to review a film about World War II that expounds more about humanity, brotherhood beyond regiments, uniforms, and blood ties. A story of courage and standing up for what is right and being humane despite the odds of the situation. A film by a multi-talented director with an exquisite taste in storytelling who goes by the name of Eric Labelle. It sure is an honor to share with you all, my dear readers, Eric Labelle‘s heart-warming intense war drama short film called “Ce Matin Qui Dura Six Ans”
I have always been a war movie fanatic, whether based on a true story or fictional, I believe that out of millions of people that got affected by the world war every story told in films is a story of someone who didn’t have the chance to share his story. And I am glad that director Eric Labelle was able to share the story of 3 patriots of war in his beautiful film “Ce Matin Qui Dura Six Ans” A story of an American, a French, and a German soldier, trapped in an intense battlefield, all about to be victims of circumstances yet saved by a fortunate coincidence.
The story was beautifully written needless to say well depicted too. It had a heartwarming beginning that was very well supplied with suspense, mystery, and intensity of the terror that awaits these soldiers. I like the diversity of the story. It is the main factor that makes it stand out among other war movies I have seen. Director Eric Labelle didn’t focus on telling a one-sided story but he shared the important fact that even though we stand on different grounds, we may differ with our beliefs, spoke different languages, but if we consider the greater good in all of us we can always find something that can bring us all together. Aside from its moving story, the whole cast also did an excellent job, they were able to genuinely transmit the core value of the story. Plus, great job on the production team as well. I love the intense feeling at the battlefield; impressive props and special effects, convincing war zone. This is a very impressive project for a first-time filmmaker, I am certain that there will be more excellent films to come from this director.Cheers!
