Make Money at the Utah Film Festival

Spread the love

The Utah Film Festival is the first film festival in the state of to offer a portion of the box office ticket sales to the filmmakers during the festival.

“We felt it was time to cut the filmmakers in on ticket sales.” says Warren Workman, founder for the Utah Film Festival.

Most films selected at film festivals do not receive any financial incentive. By offering a cut of the ticket sales to filmmakers, the Utah Film Festival hopes to increase attendance.

The filmmakers can make money in one of two ways. The most profitable pays the filmmaker $4,500 for one screening.

There are two revenue options:

Option 1 – Pre-Purchased Tickets

Pre-purchase tickets to your film screening for half off the door price of $10 ($2.50/each is your cost). Sell these tickets for regular price $10, use them as give aways or use them any way you like. Limit 600 per screening.

Potential revenue $4,500 (*minus box office fees)

Option 2 – Even Split

After the minimum ticket sales (50) are met, all filmmakers in the block evenly split half the ticket sales with the festival. If there are 5 films screenings from 5 separate filmmakers, each filmmaker will make $0.50 per ticket sold. Pre-Purchased tickets from Option 1 are not included in this payout. Limit 600 per screening.

Potential revenue Each Filmmaker $575* when 5 filmmakers are in a screening block. More fore each filmmaker if less films are in screening block (*minus box office fees)
