Spread the love

Cancer knows no boundaries, doesn’t choose its prey. Whatever, race, color, gender, or age, it strikes like a thief in the night always ready to devour its unfortunate victim. The unimaginable physical, mental, and emotional pain that this ordeal brings to the patient and the family is heartbreaking. It will test one’s courage, strength, and faith along the way, but with the help and support from friends, loved ones, and sometimes kind strangers, it helps ease the burden of battling the dreaded disease. Today, I am very fortunate to have witnessed a beautiful, beautiful short film titled “The Pink Bandana/Le Bandana Rose” by director Dinah Effoudou.

I have never seen a heartwarming short film like this for a while now. It had my eyes swelling up with tears most of the time. My heart is at awe with every scene. I can feel the sincerity and the pure intension of the film to deliver love, positivity, and hope to the world. It looks like this movie is one of the films to beat this season because, for me, it sets the bar high in the short film category.

Director Dinah Effoudou takes us to the strikingly breathtaking place called Guadeloupe located in the southern Caribbean Sea, where a girl named Sarah and a boy named Sharuhk had an unfortunate encounter inside a hospital. Sarah is battling Cancer. She had her head wrapped with a pink bandana to cover the loss of her hair. However, it didn’t prevent Sharuhk from noticing how beautiful she is, so he secretly took a photo of her using his mobile phone. But Sarah’s bandana fell, and as she picked up her bandana from the floor she noticed Sharuhk’s mobile phone and accused him of taking a photo of her without her bandana. I wouldn’t want to leak more details of this wonderful story, but I can surely guarantee you that this encounter between Sarah and Sharuhk is the one that would positively affect their lives, as it also touched mine, and undoubtedly yours too.

“The Pink Bandana/Le Bandana Rose” made me fall in love with its lovely story, its beautiful location and music, its warm characters and the incredibly talented actors that took part in this film. Also, special mention to the heartfelt portrayal of Lucas Gouedard as Sharuk, this kid is truly exceptional. Everything was on point, well thought out, and executed seamlessly. And to think, that Director Dinah Effoudou is a first-time filmmaker made this short film even more incredible. I m just wow and speechless. I can see that she has this raw talent in storytelling, and she can translate the story from its core and with so much heart and so much more to offer. I felt the story. It made me genuinely sad and happy. She was able to produce natural scenes and sincere emotion from the cast that made the entire experience of screening a memorable one. I have nothing but appreciation for this film. Praises to Director Dinah Effoudou and her team for making a film beautiful beyond words can express. I am a fan and hope to see more in the future. Congratulations!
