Talking with Brittney Souther
.
Biggest projects in last 12 months:
The Anniversary Inn commercial was the first time I got to film with my whole family in our home. I did the voiceover work and my husband Chris Souther was my sound engineer. I love when I get to work with my family. Last August I filmed for a TV show on a major network. It was out of town and my family got to tag along for a mini-vacation. In January I booked in Wyoming. I brought my family along for another vacation. I played a character that was out of the norm for me, and my little girl got to be in the scene too.

Favorite person on set:
I have been so surprised with how positive and supportive the Utah film community is! I’ve had so many wonderful experiences and made so many friends! I have too many favorites, besides being talented and fun to work with, they fill me up with sunshine and cheer me on. Who doesn’t love Crafty/Catering and all the conversations with them during down time. I appreciate sets that bring in hair and makeup, they make me feel like a beautiful princess. Those behind the camera leave me feeling better than when I showed up. My set sister Alicia O. Farmer who wears many hats. She sees me, lifts me up, and inspires me.
.
Project that made me a better professional:
-Rite of the Shaman will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first movie my husband and kids were in with me. It allowed me to dip my toes into producing for the first time. I really love acting, but being on the other side of things was really exciting, especially seeing everything come together. Winning Best Feature at the Utah Film Festival this year really lit a fire inside of me.

Advice…
Network, network, network!!! The amount of jobs I have gotten because I can’t shut my mouth is astonishing. Leave your book at home and talk to the people on set. ALL OF THEM. I am pretty sure around 1/3 of what I book comes from connections I have made while chatting on other sets- and then those become direct bookings in the future. Be friendly. Always show up prepared and with a good attitude. Bring a fun energy that people want to be around and you will be welcomed back time and time again.
