For the first time in our history, the Utah International Film Festival has accepted the first short film born from the depths of artificial intelligence, titled “Who is God?”. Oscar Adan Lopez Parres, the collaborator of this project shared insights into the origin and challenges of bringing this AI-generated creation to life.

The narrative of “Who is God?” delves into the complexity of humanity, exploring its remarkable creativity and the ability to both build great empires and potentially self-destruct. According to Parres, the inspiration for the story emerged from a wild theory about life, contemplating it as a living entity. The concept evolved into a reality through significant advancements in artificial intelligence.

Parres, along with a dedicated team and believers in the project, embarked on a journey that changed their lives. The creative process involved immersing themselves in beautiful landscapes, experiencing diverse cultures, meeting different ethnicities, and exploring stunning monuments.

The most difficult part, as Parres expressed, lay in envisioning images that accurately represented the complex emotions they aimed to convey and connect with the audience.

Reflecting on the overall production, Parres asserted that he wouldn’t change a thing. The idea was captured as intended, achieving the goal of making the audience experience conflicting emotions.

For aspiring individuals interested in utilizing the technology to tell stories, Parres offered a piece of advice: “Don’t give up. Fight for your idea. Only time will tell if the idea was good enough.”
