Awesome Burger
I always try to make it a point to highlight and show appreciation to filmmakers who venture out of the norms. The one that isn’t afraid to risk the chance to showcase an imaginative vision while breaking the standards of what is currently on trend. A filmmaker that experiments and make use of every single detail of the film necessary. Someone who breaks free from tradition and is bound to influence many with his or her craft and vision. It may sound a little bizarre, but there are such filmmakers that will undoubtedly have your jaws dropped with amazement because of the uncanny inventiveness and uniqueness they put into their work.
Today, my lovely readers, I am going to take you in-depth with the works of an awesome student filmmaker and writer. A promising director that took the experimental narrative, dystopian, and surrealism film genre into a whole new level. His name is Will J. Barker, and he exhibits his fine artistry in filmmaking in the short film “Awesome Burger”, and it was indeed awesome.
My initial reaction to the film was fascination. I like the setup it was different. It was creativity meets resourcefulness, and I admire our student director’s skills in doing such. He manifests that something beautiful and artistic can be produced with the use of this kind of quality. Aside from the inventiveness that this short film displays, I also like how it brought back some feelings and memories when I used to work part-time when I was a student. It was a little funny that almost everything was the same. Same in the manner of thoughts. It was like my thoughts back then are depicted in the first few scenes of this movie. It was like reliving how I used to wait for my shift to be over, but time doesn’t seem to be on my side and every second becomes magnified and feels like forever. It was as if my head floats in outer space and everything in front of me is alienated just like Sydney in this film. And speaking of our lead character Sydney, who was superbly played by Jessica Jaffe, is one of the most interesting characters I have ever seen on screen. I adore the realness and spunk of her character, and Jessica Jaffe made sure that it was spot on. The development of the story was also pretty awesome and interesting. It is fun watching Sydney venture deep into her reality and uncover more about it. The discoveries she unfolds led her to the truth of her world I think she didn’t want to know.
So if you seek the unique and finds more value in a movie with a fine imagination and creative skill set then Will J. Barker’s Awesome Burger is my top recommendation for you. You’ll never go wrong with this choice I know I didn’t, with its creative quality and extraordinary plot I am sure that watching this short film is an experience you’ll never forget. Good job to director Will J. Barker for making your exceptional vision come to life in Awesome Burger.
