We keep our secrets hidden not because we want to hide the truth, but because we want to hide a part of us that we are not proud of. Sometimes we fear that we will hurt the ones we love once they discover what we’re hiding. But often, we keep secrets to ourselves because we are not ready to face the reality of what comes after it. Today we’re going to dive into a murder mystery story inside a town that succumbs to fear. So if you love a good dose of mystery, action, and romance, today’s focus feature film is the perfect recommendation for you. It is titled “Down East” Directed by Joe Raffa and written together with Greg Finley.
A town kept quiet by fear and secrets. The feature film “Down East” by Joe Raffa and Greg Finley took me to the seedy underbelly of Maine, where a young man named Tommy, played by Greg Finley, is conflicted between the truth of his best friend’s death and the reality of living in their small town. Succumb with terror from a local gang, drug smugglers, and corrupt police, the people of their town, just like Tommy, got their eyes shut and lips sealed from crimes caused by these people, including the death of Tommy’s best friend, Mickey. However, things stirred up when Mickey’s younger sister, Emma(Dylan Silver), returns to town, seven years after her brother’s death. She starts asking around questions and digging down her brother’s case in which the organization didn’t like. Having feelings for Emma, Tommy is torn between holding the truth about Mickey’s death and keeping Emma safe from every danger that is awaiting them once she uncovers the truth. But is there more to Mickey’s death that is keeping Tommy from telling the truth to Emma? There is nothing juicier than a story filled with fear and mystery. And “Down East” will unquestionably serve you that classic local feel of getting puzzle pieces together with action, drama, suspense, and romance.
I had a great time watching this film. It is well-made, has an engaging story, and the cast was remarkable. The story has a magnetic pull that gives me the desire to know what is going to happen next, or what will Emma uncover from the town or Tommy. Its cinematography is awesome too. What I am looking for in a film is how it will bring me to the setting with its cinematography. And this feature movie certainly gave me an authentic feel of Maine. Lastly, this film is blessed with incredibly talented and interesting actors, from Greg Finley, Dylan Silver, Kirk Fox, and the rest of the cast were able to contribute fine delivery of their characters, and it sure added a huge factor to the film’s distinction.
Great work to the multi-talented Greg Finley and Joe Raffa, and of course, the amazing and dedicated team of “Down East” for creating this feature and delivering a complete package movie. I extremely enjoyed watching it. Indeed the type of film I would not hesitate to recommend! Cheers and Congratulations!
