Drew Henriksen – Afternoon
We chatted with Drew Henriksen, one of the writers of Afternoon. Afternoon is an official selected screenplay at the Utah Film Festival.
What was the inspiration for coming up with Afternoon?
My friend Mike Jones, stunt coordinator and retired police officer you suffers from PTSD asked me to write a short about PTSD.
How long did it take you to write this screenplay?
In my head, a year, on paper, two days.
What was the biggest challenge in writing Afternoon?
To have all the details that Mike wanted inserted into a short script but not make it look forced.
What was your favorite scene to write?
The opening scene where he talks about salad.
What was your favorite character to create?
A tie between the Man and the Waitress.
How/When do you plan to make Afternoon into a film?
Mike has a location in Ohio to film, looking for investors.
What do you have next in the works?
I have a Christmas movie script, A Brooklyn Christmas, that has promise. Mike would like to expand Afternoon into a feature.

After years of being a laboratory supervisor for North Shore University Hospital, he began teaching science at Amityville Memorial High School in New York and an adjunct professor of forensic science for Syracuse University. Studying the martial arts he is now a Sensei, 4th Dan Master black belt. His Martial Arts work has gotten him stunt work and fight coordinator credit in several films.
