Enter a post-apocalyptic world that isn’t quite what it seems. Follow a group of scavengers uncover a deep dark secret “bigger than you, bigger than me, it’s bigger than all of us” as they “Enter the Fringe.” This sci-fi action short film is directed by Nathan Riddle, Director and Co-Creator of Acid Reign—a series which this short is based on. This amazing short film was brought together for a Red Giant Film Festival 10-minute filmmaking competition.

Filled with interesting sci-fi effects, stark dry landscapes and cool characters, “Enter the Fringe” is a trip down future lane. The cinematography is really stimulating. The beginning already spins a lot of webs and intrigue. It feels like a classic eighties flick at first. There are so many parameters making an upcoming mission filled with possible failure.

There are so many questions unanswered even at the end, leaving you wanting more of the story. It keeps you thinking and wondering. The scenery is so interesting. There are manhunters/paid mercenaries, a unique car appropriately named Azrael Angel of Death, futuristic clothes, violence, etc. A corrupt government is behind it all. If you haven’t seen any of the Acid Reign installments, it’s hard to say who are the bad guys and who are the good. Everyone seems like someone else’s puppet. “Enter the Fringe” is a good guessing game and will draw you in to the wider world of Acid Reign.

L. Walker, Mikaylee Riddle, Dave Bresnahan, Tyson Whitney, Elwon Bakly, and Jason Wixom star in this fantastic piece in the Acid Reign legacy.

Nathan Riddle is from Kanab, Utah, which used to be known as Little Hollywood during the golden age of cinema, where so many western films and TV series were shot. He got his inspiration for the Acid Reign series and ultimately “Enter the Fringe” because of the local stories. His friend was restoring an old mustang that reminded him of the Mad Max movies. Acid Reign the Series is summed up by him: “In a mutated and desolate future, where the corrupt government, commerce barons and renegades fight for control, an unlikely group of scavengers must choose self-preservation or save humanity.” And now we have the long-awaited short flick inspired by that world he created with his screenwriting friend, Ben Wray.

Nathan has worked on multiple projects as a visual effects artist in television, films, and games. He works full time in the video game industry as the lead animator for many profitable games including PAC-Man World Rally and the Bee Movie Game. He has also produced several documentaries
