We had the opportunity to interview Fabiano Montesano who’s music video The Exiled is an official selection at the Utah Film Festival in American Fork, Utah.

Fabiano Montesano, better known for his stage name Famoe, is an English rapper who started his musical career with the name Fantastical. He was born in 1987 to Italian parents, but he’s currently based in Stuttgart, Germany, where he produces most of his music. He has worked with numerous recording labels during his career before deciding to launch his own record company called Rap & Rhymes Records.

What inspired you to make The Exiled?

It was a privilege to me being a Part of this outstanding comic project that involves people like Wesley Snipes (Blade), Adam Lawson (Director of Escape the Night), Keith Aram (Performance Director Call of Duty), that actually started just as a soundtrack idea which ended up doing a music video for it making it able to being selected especially as a soundtrack to several film festivals around the world helping also promote this outstanding story which could be seen as “Seven meets Blade Runner“.

What challenges did you overcome to make The Exiled a reality?

I had only a timeframe of 2 weeks writing and creating the soundtrack. The music video was shot within 24hrs including 2 hrs of recording the video, video-editing and getting ready for the release. Especially with having just one film studio room available was the hardest part to make the video as interesting as possible, and I was glad getting some masks to create several characters within the video making it comfortable for the viewer at the end of the day.

What did you learn while creating The Exiled?

When it comes to be involved in big overall projects, you always have to be ready to get from 0 to 100 within a certain timeframe. Through all the know-how and the experience we gathered in the last years, it was great to know that I’m always ready when it comes to having a project done as quick as possible with a high-end outcome at the end of the day.

What are your favorite parts of the creative process when you create a music video?

Making sure to dive into the story and making it as credible as possible for the viewer.

What are you working on now and when do you expect to release it to the public?

Currently, I’m working on several projects, from music videos, single’s, EP and one album as well as a Behind Famoe Documentary which will be divided in several parts in 2023.
