February UFF Recap
Last night kicked off the 13th annual Utah FIlm Festival with the panel “Unwritten Etiquette in the Film World” with producers and actor joining the panel.
The panel focused the best practices from the audition through wrapping on set.
In the first stages of the hiring process, etiquette plays a part in how we respond to a job posting. After reading the job title, some people scroll down to the contact person to quickly apply without reading the posting in its entirety missing crucial information.
“Just be sure to read it all because your question may have already been answered in the listing” said one of the panelists.
Other topics during the etiquette panel covered: being on set, chain of command, communication, networking, contracts and more.
The panel ran for 90 minutes pulling questions from the audience and curated questions previously submitted to the festival.
Following the panel was two screenings: the Utah Premiere of Look Like You and the World Premiere of Carrie’s Conversation.
Look Like You follows Tara, a South Asian queer woman, who goes to see her eight-year-old biological son after many years but is unprepared for the tensions that resurface with his white adoptive parents.
Carrie’s Conversation is about a young mother named Carrie who is having trouble raising her son. Tragedy forces her to have a difficult conversation as she tries to deal with her grief.
The night was capped off with dozen of attendees meeting up at the local iHOP till well after midnight talking about film, our community and sharing special moments.
