Jump
Jump is a very compelling short film. It has originality, artistry, and unpredictability. I was truly impressed with the plot of the film and the way they have presented it on the big screen. Who would have thought that a child’s perception can make a big impact in the way we see things or how our gestures no matter how little can greatly affect someone else’s outlook. This film has a very powerful emotional attachment that discusses more than what is being narrated throughout the film. There is a certain factor in this film that will captivate its audience and provide them with a very emotional experience.
The story Jump is about a very young girl, who is like narrating a page out of her journal. It has her thoughts on everyone and everything.
At first, you may think of it is shallow because she is just a little girl but no, she gave insightful detail of what is happening in her surroundings and her family. Her perceptions were combined with strong emotions that children at this age have no knowledge of. She was speaking her mind wholeheartedly accompanied by her innocent perception and pure intentions. I have to say that the creators of this film worked really hard to make this movie interesting and remarkably good. They have developed a film that has story, mystery, emotion, connection, and personality with a limited budget and time, truly commendable.
The beginning of the film did cause an element of surprise, it immediately attracts the interest of the audience. The flow of the film was smooth, every narration translates to significant scenes that were artistically presented. These scenes portrayed came with heavy emotional connection accompanied by the right kind of music. They were also able to capture amazing scenery from different locations. The young girl’s portrayal of her character was divine, it was natural and convincing. She gave her character personality, just the right blend of emotions and attitude of a girl at her age. The final scene was perfect, though it doesn’t seem that it was her destination, however, the path leads her to that direction to find serenity with all the troubles that are consuming her mind. From beginning to end the film has no flaw, it was very consistent with its storyline and emotions.
To cap it all, Jump is not your typical short film. It is an amazing film with creativity and imaginations that truly transcends expectations for a film this short. They were able to mix well the perception that they are trying to highlight with the emotional state of all the characters along with their goal of making the film interesting. The movie was serene but has gravity, it shows innocence but engaging, and it was artistic but very relatable. There are not so many short films that can deliver a quality film like this movie did. Overall cinematography, directing, music, actors, locations, and the storyline were surprisingly good, it was excellent to be exact, a film definitely worth watching.
