Oliver Short
The perfect film for lovers of the unknown spirit world, and those seeking a spiritual catharsis of their own. “Oliver Short” is the story of a young girl, Alex, who is a medium for spirits with unfinished business. The trouble is that she is struggling with her own business, and the fact that her father has passed away. She shows her sadness in rebellious ways. This film is the unconventional modern version of A Christmas Carol.
Alex, played by the young Carly Neel, navigates the stories and tragedies of each spirit she encounters. She realizes slowly that she may have more in common with each of the spirits than what she thinks. With each person she helps, she inadvertently helps herself grieve the loss of her father.
Oliver Short, the first spirit she encounters, guides her through each spirit she comes across, all while waiting for her to help him in return. Oliver is played by Frank Boyd.
Alex must decide if she is capable of helping others. She is a regular teenager absorbed by just living her life and grieving for her father. She has questions about death and about her father. She reminisces about the good times she had when he was alive. She wants to see her dad again. She begs Oliver to show him to her.
This is a spiritually heartwarming story for anyone who is struggling with the death of a loved one. It helps you navigate through your own emotions, realizing that sometimes you don’t get all the answers and that it’s OK. It teaches you to have love and hope again. Alex’s story is one to remember because it so closely resembles real life heartache and is mixed with the ghostly phenomena of being a medium.
The stories are relatable because everyone will have unfinished business. It is necessary to be able to let go of things and to say what needs to be said. Let “Oliver Short” teach you how to move on and face the future with love and acceptance. You will come to see everything as it should be.
Director Kevin Isaacson is an avid story teller and go-getter. He decided in July 2017 to stop waiting for others to make his films and decided to make them himself, including his directorial debut “Oliver Short,” filmed in the great state of Iowa. He started his own production company with his closest film friends called I Like Ike Films LLC. He is a 2015 Quarterfinalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards based in Los Angeles and he is currently in pre-production for his feature-length action film “Run.” His story is truly inspiring for anyone who wants to get out there and make their own content.
