Paul Cartwright – Carrie’s Conversation
We had the opportunity to interview filmmaker/actor Paul Cartwright about his latest film “Carrie’s Conversation” which will be having the world premiere on February 11th at the Town Hub in American For, Utah.
So Paul, what was the inspiration to make this Carrie’s Conversation?
I wanted to tell a personal story that related to my own experiences. I also wanted it told from a female perspective since I had already experienced the male side of the story.
A lot can happen in the creation of a film. How did your team focus on the organization of the production?
Working with your DP and 1st AD is imperative and telling the story you want others to see. Rachelle Price, Jade Gottfredson, and Tiffany Gale were essential in getting this story told properly. Rachelle gave some early thoughts on the script that helped shape the direction better for shoot days.
If you had to choose one thing, what was the biggest challenge in making Carrie’s Conversation?
All of it was out of pocket, and paying for short films generally yields no income.
What would you hope audience take away from Carrie’s Conversation?
Family, and living in the moment are the most important things we can lean on in this life.
If you had a do-over on any part of Carrie’s Conversation what would it be?
I wouldn’t change a thing. I love everything about what we accomplished with this film. It’s everything I hoped it would be and more.
What are you working on next?
Script is getting finalized for my first feature film that we hope to shoot this year.
