Protecting Tony
The short film “Protecting Tony” is about the strong bond between brothers in a family. Director Dat Nguyen has crafted a unique movie that gives emphasis about the importance of family especially in times of troubles and challenges. “Protecting Tony” does a great job encapsulating the idea that there are things in life that we are willing to sacrifice for the one that we love, even though it goes beyond the principles of life.
The film will enlighten the audience on the reality about situations that most families are experiencing in their daily life. The lead characters gave us an outstanding performance that would allowed us to feel the importance of our siblings. One thing noticeable about the movie is the perfect setting and location where the shots are filmed. It fits perfectly on the scenes that our writer has provided to the cast and instantly ensnares the attention of the audience.
The Cinematography is astonishing. The composition and lighting choices gives “Protecting Tony” a lighter tone that movie goers can adapt easily. Although it is a short film, our director has made sure that all the elements he needed to impart to the viewers are present. It is important to have a complete and concise film so that the audience will not be left hanging at the end of the movie.
Moving on to the story, “Protecting Tony” is about two brothers who have protected each other in their entire life. The motivating incident that Jack the older brother has committed a very serious crime. The young brother Tony has promise to clean up his mess no matter what happened. In either way, Jack and Tony feel responsible to resolve the problem that comes and against all odds they will protect one another. This is a message on the film that has both a negative and positive effect to our audience. It’s a conflict in eithics knowing that these brothers are willing to do the wrong thing for all the right reasons.
First it is good to protect your family, but it is also not right to do it by correcting one mistake by committing another one. The intention is good, but we need to find better and legal ways to help our love one in order to let them realize that there is still a chance for them. Hope is a small word, but it comes with big challenges and responsibility once granted to the person needing it. The emotions that coincide with the movie are packed with heart ache, love and regret. I recommend being ready to watch the film with an open mind and get carried away of a river of emotions.
Overall, I can say that we need more films like “Protecting Tony”. A film that people can relate and gives them the message about the importance of a family helps us hold a mirror to ourselves and evaluate what type of person we are and what we want to become. I do recommend “Protecting Tony” especially to audiences that are going through struggles in their life because this short film helps add a little more light and hope for all of humanity. Expect a good quality film compacted within 15 minutes to take you on a journey of self realization and the importance of family.
