Spread the love

A rebellious woman of the street decides to take matters in her own hands when she finally reaches her breaking point. “Rebel” is the story of a prostitute facing her challenges head on. Directed and produced by Jorge Quinones (Tocho Films) and starring Nicolette Waite, Jaxon Wixom, Jacob Smiley, Emmalee Hurst, and the voice of Emanuela Rodrigues. Jorge Quinones takes us on an artistic journey through the breaking point of a woman’s life. Her circumstances are what brought her to that point. Her choices after she breaks are what bring her to the next points in life, which is ultimately the best choice any person can make if they want to remain true to themselves.

“We are always in search of this magic that will make all pain, all hunger, all discord disappear.” She has to navigate her daily life, deciding what her limits are. Watching her is like watching someone poetically suffocate for air and then finally gets the chance to break the surface of water taking a much-needed deep breath. “Rebel” is the lyrical visualization of a life filled with injustices and contradictions. In a poetic contradiction, the film is visually stunning even though some of the content being viewed is tragic. It is an experimental drama short about crime. It is up to the audience to decide what the real crime is—the woman’s circumstances in life or the choices she makes because of the circumstances she is thrown in to.

She navigates drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and murder. Every human being is in search of the same magic she talks about. She decides to create her own magic because up until current day, at the beginning of the film, she hasn’t found the magic in other resources.

Nicolette Waite does an amazing job capturing the life of the rebellious street woman. It was beautiful to watch her story take place all while listening to the lyrically smooth monologue voiced by Emanuela Rodriguez. The editing was beautifully done. The monologue didn’t detract from the visual story going on screen. The sound was really good.

Jorge Quinones has a unique voice and vision in the film industry. He is establishing himself as an amazing director with exceptional ideas of how to tell humanizing and inspiring stories.
