Rendezvous
Watching a thriller movie is like ordering the chef’s special in a restaurant. You’ll have no clue of what you are bound to get served, but guarantees you the best plate that the house can offer. It can be as juicy in the first few bites, or a revelation throughout the meal. Just like what I have experienced screening this short film I am about to share with you, my dear readers. A fine thriller, oozing with suspense in every second, created by Seth Kozak titled “Rendezvous”
Rendezvous is an agreed meeting typically between two people on a specified date and time, but what will happen if you don’t know who or what you are about to face in this rendezvous? Seth Kozak, who directed, written, and co-produced this short film delivered one of the best thrillers I have seen in this festival. I like his execution. There is that original discernment of what a suspense thriller film should be, along with the feel of watching the classics. It showed his love and expertise in the genre, adding his choice for actors and set location simply made everything perfect for that one of a kind suspense thriller I’d remember for a long, long time.
The story of “Rendezvous” welcomed me to the plot of a congressman (Mike Sutton) to have his young wife Catalina (Katarina Morhacova) murdered by a hired killer (Chris Kerson) as she set off on a journey to meet her mother. Driving on the roads with an expected blizzard on the way, Catalina decided to take shelter in an inn where she didn’t know she is about to face the rendezvous that could determine her life, will she survive this cold and life-threatening night? Or will she be able to maneuver this threat to her advantage? Indeed, sleeping won’t be easy for Catalina. Once the fire dies, the cold will be unforgiving.
Director Seth Kozak and his team exceeded my expectations. And it made me want to see a feature version of this film. The technical aspects of the movie are Hollywood caliber. From the cinematography, picture quality, editing, to directing outright was exquisite. I also love the musical score. It is tailored to suit the story and the energy of the film. The cast is needless to say super effective and in character. Katarina Morhacova, Chris Kerson, and Mike Sutton’s acting contribution to this film is one of the major factors of this film’s success. I was able to see the drive and intensity in their eyes with every scene, and every delivered line. And it was perfection and impressive. This short film is the kind of movie that I’d recommend in a heartbeat, especially for suspense thriller fans like myself. Seth Kozak’s Rendezvous will let you experience again that classic Hollywood suspense thrillers we ought to love and enjoy. So you better catch this film as it hits the theaters or web screenings, and I bet you that every second of watching this movie is worth it. Kudos to director Seth Kozak and his team for making a standout and genuine suspense thriller in “Rendezvous” Cheers to all!
