Standing Out in the Spotlight: Christian Busath’s Audition Workshop
Provo, Utah was buzzing with excitement as actor Christian Busath took the spotlight with his special evening class, “How to Stand Out in Your Auditions: A Special Evening Class with the phenomenal Christian Busath,” held at The Hive Collaborative.
The class, a comprehensive exploration of audition essentials, covered everything from the do’s and don’ts of auditions to the intricacies of crafting a compelling character. Attendees gained valuable insights into audition attire, the art of making choices as an actor, deciphering the secrets of good and bad headshots, and polishing up their resumes for that professional shine.
Christian shared the diverse classes he plans to teach, encompassing the creation of characters, specialized audition types, and practical insights on navigating the complex worlds of film sets and theaters. He expressed a desire to take on students on an ongoing basis, opening the door to mentorship opportunities and discussions on the nuanced anatomy of the entertainment industry.
“Amongst the audition class is going to be teaching: creating character, be creating classes on specific audition types” said Busath. “Also the anatomy of what is it like on a film set what’s appropriate, what’s not appropriate, and taking on some students on an ongoing basis? Plus who do you talk to? Who you don’t talk to? Also navigating theater, how to get an agent, or at least how to stand out.”
Responding to Warren’s question about the applicability of the classes for industry veterans, Christian highlighted the perpetual learning journey in the art of creating characters. He emphasized the value of diverse techniques, each a valuable addition to an actor’s repertoire.
“I think with creating characters we can always learn more of how to create a character” said Busath. “You might not use the technique that I teach, but at least it’s a technique in your back pocket.“
Christian unveiled his tentative schedule for the classes, acknowledging the experimental nature of the initial event. Plans are underway at The Hive for regular classes, possibly once or twice a month, with flexibility based on the demand and the specific topics covered. The overarching goal is to cultivate a community of passionate individuals and provide a dynamic platform for continuous learning.
