The Art of Minimalism in ‘Intruder’
“Intruder” is a suspenseful narrative and minimalist approach. The film, directed and written by Travis Hunter, weaves a chilling story of a troubled man facing a pivotal decision—one that hinges between love and something darker.
The origins of “Intruder” trace back to a moment of inspiration for Hunter as he delved into horror shorts on YouTube. In a candid reflection, he shared, “After watching some horror shorts on YouTube, I thought up the idea for ‘Intruder’ and wrote it right then.”
Hunter took on the roles of both writer and director showcasing his creative prowess. The cast featured Travis Hunter as the troubled man, Brittney Souther as the wife, and Shane Morrisun as a mysterious figure trapped in the trunk.
Hunter expressed his favorite part of the production process. “My favorite part is the end because it’s just one shot and leaves a lot to the imagination. This was a very easy project. Only took 5 hrs. Shane is a one-man show and had everything needed.”
Despite the smooth production, Hunter acknowledged a potential tweak he might have made, saying, “The only thing I may have done differently is add more dialog.”
Hunter also offered straightforward advice for anyone interested in entering the production space: “My advice on getting into production is to just start.” A simple yet powerful mantra that echoes the spirit of diving into the world of filmmaking with determination and passion.
