The Breakable Shoes
The Breakable Shoes by Jeanne Dukes is a heartwarming short screenplay about friendship, sacrifice and love.
When 9 year old Kevin does not get a gift he was hoping for from his friend, he is feeling disappointed and annoyed. But when his mother tells Kevin a story to change his perspective the tale creates a shift in Kevin’s perspective which changes his heart from a state of disappointment to gratitude.
Jeanne Dukes has received several nominations and wins for her work over the years and I expect The Breakable Shoes will be adding to those accolades. The way the story is constructed allows the reader to put themselves in the shoes of Kevin and/or his mother. This ability to convey empathy is a talent that Dukes does very well.
If a producer wants to make The Breakable Shoes, the current script is 17 pages. I feel this would be best for a producer searching to create a sweet holiday short film or possibly expand it into a feature length screenplay.
If you are looking for a touching story with the spirit of Christmas you will enjoy The Breakable Shoes by Jeanne Dukes.
