Every family is unique. There are those fortunate ones that stand by the foundation of their family with pure love, support, and understanding. And with siblings, this kind of devious acts with each other or someone else in the household isn’t brand new, especially when there is a history of hate and abuse within the family. Today we take on a dark psychological thriller and drama, directed and written by E.N. Reynolds, titled “The Deft” This short film tells the gripping tale of siblings, Zach and Esther, as they mourn the loss of their father and figure out what caused his death. This movie is more than your usual murder mystery story, so if you’re ready, we are going to dive into the world of the intriguing and madly juicy psycho sibling deceit of The Deft.
E.N. Reynolds’ The Deft is a fifteen-minute long short film that entails the story of siblings, Zach and Esther, at the time they have lost their father due to a strange accident. Zach and Esther’s family is wealthy. And with their father deceased, they have no one left but each other. When they were just kids, their old man had episodes of physically abusing them. It made Ester strong, cold, and estranged from their father, while it made Zach fragile but well-loved by his father, so he left all of his wealth to him. Esther wasn’t convinced that their father died in an accident, so she started digging about it behind Zach, who eventually found out. She told him about her hunch about their father’s death and told him that she hired an investigator to look deeper into the case. But Zach wasn’t persuaded by what was happening. He started to be suspicious of Ester. So, he began his own investigation together with his trusted friend Carter(Dominic Rodgers). Zach and Carter came to unravel puzzle pieces that made them doubt Ester’s motive and facade even more. And when it was Esther’s turn with the investigator, they snuck into her bedroom and searched through her belongings to find something to strengthen their notion. And to Zach’s disbelief, he found something even more disturbing than he is prepared to know. The truth about him, his sister Ester, his best friend Carter, and their father’s death.
