Trespassers
Trespassers has been selected to play at the Utah Film Festival, Saturday October 1st at the Towne Hub in American Fork UT.
The film follows David Stetson after the violent and tragic death of his daughter. After police investigation fails to identify her killer and his private faith in God shaken, David straddles the decision of either taking his own life, or enacting justice on the murderer himself.
This film looks and feels as though it was crafted by a long time filmmaking veteran, so I was surprised to find how young Zach Doumit was. In the future, Zach hopes to work with the likes of Blumhouse to create massively entertaining films produced on a small scale.
“The inception of this film arose because, as the oldest of 7 children, and as someone who hopes to be a father one day, I had a constant paranoia of one of my siblings being abducted and their childhood innocence stripped away from them, and wanted to articulate in narrative form the emotional impact that that kind of trauma can wreak on a person and their faith in life” said Zach Doumit.
“It’s a story about a personal journey to try and fill the void left in one’s heart from an event like this and how going about it the wrong way can sometimes make that void even deeper and excruciating.”
So how does someone fresh out of high school make something so professional and gritty? “Some of the challenges making this film included working with an extremely tight budget of $3500 to tell a complete thriller/horror story with multiple locations and cast members” continued Doumit. “Thanks to the unbelievable talent and crew we were able to work with, we were able to accomplish far more than we initially set out to do. I’m deeply proud of this project, and I hope that you all enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
Trespassers cast is lead by Kyle Paul, Damarr Jones, Travis Hunter, Amy Doumit, and Madison Doumit.
The expert crew consisted of the producing and casting talents of Mariah Salazar, music by Chris McElroy, cinematography by Alan Baird, makeup by Kelly Porter and Rachel Webster as the assistant director. Trespassers is written, directed and edited by Zach Doumit.
