Spread the love

The Utah International Film Festival is excited to share that Volveré, the critically acclaimed film by award-winning director Marlon Gonz, will be available on streaming platforms starting November 1, 2024, at 7 PM MST. The film, which garnered widespread praise at its premiere, has been celebrated by leading news outlets, including NPR, The Daily Herald, The Utah Review, and our very own festival.

At the 2024 Utah International Film Awards, Volveré made history with nine nominations, the most for any short film that year, ultimately securing one of the top honors. The film tells the moving story of Felipe Lopez, an undocumented immigrant living in the U.S., who is forced to confront a heart-wrenching choice between staying with his pregnant wife or returning to Mexico to be with his dying mother. This tale brings to light the emotional complexities faced by many immigrants in similar situations.

Audiences first experienced Volveré at sold-out screenings. Volveré has gone on to earn acclaim for its breathtaking storytelling and compelling performances. It shines with exceptional direction, a beautifully crafted screenplay, striking cinematography, and an ensemble cast that delivers raw, emotional depth.

To mark the streaming release, Marlon Gonz will host a special Halloween/Día de los Muertos celebration on November 2nd, complete with a Black Carpet event for photographers. The event promises to be a vibrant gathering of film industry professionals, friends, family, and fans, offering a cultural backdrop that perfectly complements the film’s release.

As excitement builds for Volveré’s wider release, Gonz is already moving forward with his next projects. He plans to begin production on his eighth film in 2025 and is preparing for an awards campaign for A Convincing Illusion, his upcoming project that’s already creating buzz in the film festival circuit.

Congratulations again to Marlon Gonz and the entire team of Volveré for making this remarkable film.
