Devin Hansen – The Vanished
We had the opportunity to interview Devin Hansen, the filmmaker behind The Vanished. The Vanished Is an official selection of the Utah Film Festival.
The Vanished follows a team of female hikers venture and are lost in the cold winter mountains, as an unknown creature continues to stalk them.
What was the inspiration to make this The Vanished?
The inspiration for this film was that others were doing their film in the snow and winter weather, I personally wanted to take on a challenge for myself and my cast and crew to see if I was able to pull something like this off. Seeing other friends and filmmakers make their film in the mountains and winter I thought looked very fun.
From idea to completion, how did The Vanished change?
From production to completion we added an additional character during filming that we had planned out for an ending but then had to improvise the ending since that actress did not show up for the last day of filming.
What do you think is the most important takeaway from The Vanished?
The most important takeaway I think from this production was keeping everyone safe and warm during filming. Nights were the coldest of all and we didn’t shoot for very long even though we had a fire to keep us warm the entire time.
If you could have a do over with The Vanished is there anything that you would do differently?
If I could do over the film I would probably do it as a feature but maybe one day I will since it was my last short film.
What do you have next in the works?
I’m currently shooting my 4th feature film “Coulrophobia” and in the process of writing my 5th feature film “The Cold Ground” that I plan to shoot next spring in 2023.
How can we learn more about you and your projects?
I have a few short films and trailers on my YouTube channel. I have Facebook and Instagram @devinkhansen and don’t mind at all getting word out of my latest film!
