Retro 3D Scares: Filmulate’s Halloween Spectacle!

Get ready for a hauntingly delightful evening at the Broadway Centre Cinemas as Filmulate presents ‘Dark at the Cinema 3D,’ an immersive experience featuring premiere short Halloween films in retro 3D. Attendees are invited to put on the provided old school red/blue glasses and step into a world where horror meets nostalgia.

‘Dark at the Cinema 3D’ will feature a selection of premiere short Halloween films that promise to send shivers down your spine. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a night of retro fun, complete with filmmaker Q&A sessions and exciting awards. Costumes are encouraged, adding an extra layer of spookiness to the evening.
Among the featured films is ‘The Ghost Phone,’ a chilling tale that blurs the lines between the living and the dead. When a ‘Ghost Phone’ is used at a Halloween party, it leads to eerie consequences, delving into the realm of personal sins. Heather Hyer Hailes, producer, actress, hair and makeup artist, and special effects makeup artist of the film, shared insights about the challenges of producing a 3D film: “The biggest challenge was ensuring that 3D was a critical component of the festival. We meticulously designed the set and shot scenes to create depth, making the 3D effect seamless and immersive.”
Another standout film, ‘Ancient Evil 3D: FrankenCock’ directed by Ryan McDonald of New Ogden Cinema, promises another entertaining short. “It’s a wild, crazy, and fast paced short film about a Doctor that rebuilds a part of himself, only to quickly lose control of the deadly Creature that he erected. ” says filmmaker Ryan McDonald.
Heather Hyer Hailes, who plays a pivotal role in the film, shared, “My character is the wife of Frank, portrayed by Dennis Record, in a toxic and abusive relationship. It was one of my favorite and most intense roles, offering a unique and gore-filled experience.”
Ryan McDonald reflected on Ancient Evil 3D: FrankenCock saying “It was easy to keep the humor and spirits of the cast and crew high when we’re laughing and having fun like that, despite the late hours and long nights. And probably my favorite part is anytime we can make magic happen to get a tricky shot off. Example would be shooting something in reverse, which I make a goal to always have at least one reverse shot in a film. Or having to puppet The Creature, but make it look attached to the actor all for the same shot.”
