‘Haunted’ Reveals a Tale of Ghostly Redemption
In the small town of American Fork, a haunting melody echoed through the narrow streets, signaling the arrival of a music video that transcended the ordinary. The video titled “Haunted” took its roots in the creative minds of Rachelle Price and Eve Keener, who set out to capture the essence of deep regret and irreversible choices.
The haunting music video is about a man burdened by the ghosts of his past. Spencer Jarman, Kenn Denali, Dave Martinez, and Rachelle Price herself breathing life into the characters conceived by the creative duo. Behind the scenes, the talented crew, including Dan McBride, Codie Hancock, Kili Maile, and Alex Jones, worked tirelessly to bring this spectral vision to life.
Rachelle Price revealed that the song “Haunted” served as the inspiration for the music video’s narrative. The theme of loss and regret permeated the project, and Eve Keener, the co-director and producer, played a pivotal role in shaping the storyline. Price expressed her admiration for Keener’s brilliance, describing her as a powerhouse who not only crafted the story but also handled various aspects of production, from directing to wardrobe and makeup.
The production journey led the team to an old cottage, where the magic took place over an entire weekend. The camaraderie among the crew turned the filming process into a memorable experience that felt more like a gathering of friends than a formal shoot.
“We stayed there for the whole weekend with most of the crew, and that was a blast. We also got to film with some of our favorite people, which made it feel like we were all just hanging out.”
However, not every aspect of production was a walk in the park. Price recounted the challenges of transporting a piano into the forest, a cumbersome process that ultimately added a unique visual element to the video stating, “we’re so happy with how it looked that it made it worth it.” Additionally, intricate effects such as the disintegrating journal, the picture frame, and the fireplace transition posed post-production challenges. The team faced uncertainty until the final edits, but the results were nothing short of thrilling.
“Haunted” is an official selection of the Utah International Film Festival taking place February 12-17 and will be screening at Maven Cinema in American Fork, UT.
