adopt a filmmaker
Spread the love

Every year, filmmakers travel from across the world to attend the Utah International Film Festival. Through the Adopt a Filmmaker program, local residents have a unique opportunity to help make that journey a little easier.

As a host, you’ll provide a visiting filmmaker with a private room and bed during their stay at the festival. In return, you’ll receive a complimentary Utah International Film Festival pass and the chance to connect with creative people who are passionate about storytelling.

What Hosts Provide

  • A private bedroom with a bed
  • Access to a bathroom
  • A welcoming and respectful environment
  • Housing during the filmmaker’s festival stay

Hosts are not expected to provide transportation, meals, or entertainment, although some hosts choose to do so.

What Hosts Receive

  • A complimentary Utah International Film Festival pass
  • The opportunity to meet filmmakers from around the world
  • An inside connection to the festival community
  • The satisfaction of helping independent artists share their work

Our team reviews host and filmmaker applications to help create positive matches based on preferences, schedules, and accommodations. We want both hosts and filmmakers to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Travel expenses can prevent filmmakers from attending festivals where their work is being showcased. By opening your home, you’re helping filmmakers participate in screenings, Q&As, workshops, networking events, and the full festival experience.

Your spare room could help create a lifelong friendship, or simply make a filmmaker feel welcome in Utah.
