Boomslang
Warning – Spoilers!
Boomslang is a dark comedy film that is about Erik Boomslang, who is a good looking serial killer and has landed in a place where there are lots of eccentric people. The acquaintances of Boomslang and the people in the place are interesting. The short film has introduced a lot of colorful characters. They are people of different careers, personalities, and characters but all have gone attracted to Boomslang. Because he is trying to hide from authorities, he tries so hard to conceal his true character as a killer but there are still instances where his killer instinct naturally shows. Boomslang ends up as a magnet of attraction from the people without them knowing that they could be in trouble with this total stranger.
At first, it still puzzled me with what Boomslang really is. It is not showed that he is a serial killer at the start of the film. I was also waiting for the connection that will link Boomslang and to the characters in the salon. It is like the pace is slow and has focused on giving good laughs. The transition of plots is not so smooth but eventually picked up towards the end. This is understandable as the film only ran for less than fifteen minutes. If they added more minutes to the film, they can make polishing to the plots, pace, editing, and transitions of the scenes.
The short film Boomslang by Trevor Ryan is a hilarious short film. When you expect to have great laughs from a comedy film, Boomslang has delivered it so well. I am impressed with the dialogues as it is really where the funny parts are coming from. Kudos to the writer Allen Osborne for making lines that are so funny. Every punchline is on point and will not miss a laugh. I also liked the performance of all the actors. They are perfect for their roles. They are all funny and effective. The best thing about it is that they delivered their lines so well that it made the film even funnier. Ryan Vincent who played Boomslang is the equalizer in acting. When everybody else is giving those excessive actions for their roles, he remained that cool and magnetic character. Everybody gave such a great performance.
Director Trevor Ryan did an exceptional job of making the film so hilarious. How the scenes are tied up was great. I also liked the idea of ensuring the acting is just fine and not too much. There are some actors that over-act just to pull up a comedy scene. But with proper direction, this short film had its actors acting spot on. With Trevor Ryan’s great talent, the short film was presented in a way that audiences will surely enjoy and love.
You can expect a hilarious fun time watching Boomslang. If you are looking for a film that is not boring and will give you an effective comedy, then this is highly recommended. Kudos to the actors, director Trevor Ryan and everyone behind this film for making a hilarious output that will give the viewers a very good time.
