“Chasing the Dragon” brings new depth to local film scene

Spread the love

“Chasing the Dragon” is a must see short film. If you have the opportunity to catch this as a special screening or at a film festival don’t miss it. I’ll be kind and not throw out any spoilers but I do want to highlight a few key elements that make this film stand out.

Natalie Day. Her performance was packed with so many layers of emotion that I have rarely seen an actress reach this level of authenticity. Every action, reaction and nuance of her character made me want to see an entire series based around her. Simply perfect casting here by Eduardo Ayres.

Speaking of the director, Ayres really knocked it out of the park. It was like watching an up and coming Taylor Sheridan. The way he let the story unfold naturally made me easily escape into the film. Ayres did a great job telling a well rounded story while keeping the story through the eyes of our main actress.

All the scenic elements play out perfectly in the Kamas country backdrop. The cinematographer Angela Rosales Challis captured the spirit of the film with precision and style. Nothing was done over the top. Every shot had great synergy with all the talents merged together on this film.

OH and the music. OMG Kagen Breintenbach. You pulled my heart out. What an amazing score.

The entire cast and crew was outstanding. I can’t wait to see what each and every one of the members of this talented team come out with next!
