Talking with Karissa Dawn Cragun

Biggest projects in last 12 months:
The biggest project I’ve done in the last 12 months has been the short film Switchboard. I’ve also done some commercial series for Survey Junket and Eon Laser Treatment.

Favorite person on set:
My favorite person on set so far has been Ben Burnett. He is amazing at making everyone, talent and crew, feel relaxed and accepted. He is also hilarious, an amazing actor himself, and just an all around great person to be around.

Project that made me a better professional:
The project I feel that has made me a better professional would honestly be the scene work I’ve done the last two months with Michael Flynn and his workshop. I was pushed to new levels, discovered even more about myself as a person and actress, and have been able to better understand the process and “why” behind each character and scene/project

Advice…
Don’t give up and when you see that opportunity TAKE IT. I put my dream and life on hold to support my husband through his dream job and raise our family. But I never gave up on my dream of acting professionally and full time. I had an opportunity to do it full time and I snatched it.

Also, keep training. You can always learn more. Doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve been in the industry. You can always learn and practice. Whether it’s taking a professional class/workshop or simply being in a local musical or play. Athletes don’t stop going to practice just because they’re on a professional team. So we, as actors/actresses, shouldn’t stop practicing either.
